Rose Browder


Rose Browder, age 83, of Indianapolis, a former resident 

of Celina, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019, at 
Community Hospital East in Indianapolis.             
 
She was born October 25, 1935, in Celina, to Harry & 
Floraetta ( Place ) Browder.
 
Rose is survived by a brother & 2 sisters: Harry Browder Jr. 
of Versailles, Gertrude Gehle of Piqua, and Vivian Coats of 
Celina, and several nieces & nephews.
    
Preceding her in death were an infant sister, Lonnie Jo Browder,  
brothers: Paul ( Linda ) Browder and John Browder, a sister-in-law,  
Marge ( Mrs. Harry ) Browder, and brothers-in-law: Louis Gehle 
and Vernon Paul Coats Sr.
 
Rose served with the WAVES in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961, 
following which she worked at Barr's 5 & 10 in Celina until 1966.  
She then moved to Indianapolis to take a job at the Wesleyan Church 
Headquarters.  In 1982, Rose went to work for Canterbury Village, 
transferring to the Continental Convalescent Nursing Center in 2001.  
 
Rose enjoyed traveling, her most memorable trip was in 2001, 
going from Washington D.C. to Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  
 
Rose obtained certification as a Nurses Aide in 1962 from the 
Health Care Institute, and in 1988, completed training at Indiana 
Vocational Technical College to be a Qualified Medications Aide. 
 
Since 1966, Rose attended the Central Wesleyan Church in Indianapolis.  
She taught preschool classes, and volunteered with the church's after 
school homework project, and also at summer camp for the Shepherd 
Community Church.  Rose's biggest blessing was working with children 
through the church.  Serving God was the love of her life.
 
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 26,
at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina.  Pastor Darrel
Herring of the Central Wesleyan Church will officiate.
 
Calling Hours are from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on 
Saturday, October 26.          
Burial will be at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina, with graveside 
military rites to be conducted by Celina VFW Post #5713 and 
American Legion Post #210.
 
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Central Wesleyan Church 
in Indianapolis.
