BASKET HOTEL

ABOUT 40 MILES EAST OF COLUMBUS, IN NEWARK, THERE IS A SEVEN-STORY BUILDING THAT LOOKS JUST LIKE A GIANT HANDBASKET, COMPLETE WITH HANDLES. THE 22-YEAR OLD BUILDING WAS THE HEADQUARTERS FOR THE NOW-CLOSED LONGABERGER BASKET COMPANY. THE BUILDING'S OWNER SAYS AFTER HE BOUGHT THE BUILDING IN 2017 THERE WERE A COUPLE OF SHOWINGS, BOTH AS OFFICE SPACE AND MARKET HOUSING. BUT HE SAYS A HOTEL IS MORE PRACTICAL AND SUSTAINABLE FOR THE BUILDING'S FUTURE. IF ALL GOES WELL, THEY HOPE TO START RENOVATIONS TO THE 150-ROOM HOTEL BY THE END OF 2020
