The following is a press release from the Mercer County Sheriff's Office:

Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his office is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred this evening, June 1, 2024.  Grey advised that Mercer County Central Dispatch received a 911 call at 4:17 PM of a single vehicle crash that occurred on Smith Rd, north of St Rte 117, in Dublin Township.

The investigation revealed that a 2020 gray Indian motorcycle driven by 65 year old Vincent E Blossom of Rockford, Ohio was travelling southbound on Smith Rd when he failed to negotiate a curve causing him to run off the east side of the roadway and strike a pole.  Blossom was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Rockford EMS and the Rockford Fire Department.

This crash remains under investigation at this time and will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
