NEWS RELEASE 09/03/2024

On Friday, 8/30/2024 Celina Police responded to a reported pedestrian crash, with injuries in the 200 block of W. Logan St., Celina. Upon arrival they found that a City Public Works employee, 33 year old Bryce Schmidt had been working in a catch basin located on the drive to Casa Rodriguez parking lot. Schmidt was waist deep in the basin when a red 2021 Chevrolet driven by Tolentino Rodriguez turned onto the drive from W. Logan St. Mr. Rodriguez did not see Schmidt and struck him, causing serious injuries.

Schmidt was taken to a local hospital by ambulance and later transferred to a Dayton area hospital. No condition is currently available. No citations are expected.
