Press Release – For Immediate Release
Celina, OH - Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey announced today his office has once again applied for and has received two grants for traffic safety. The Ohio Department of Public Safety has advised our office that we will be receiving grants to aide our deputies in reducing traffic related fatalities and serious injury accidents in Mercer County. These grants run from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025.
These grants allow our deputies to spend more time targeting problem areas while on patrol. The grants are broken down into two focus areas. The first for $24,294.11, titled Repeat Offenders for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), will focus on looking for subjects driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol within our county. The second part of the grant, valued at $25,794.11, is State and Community Highway Safety. This part of the grant allows us to have our deputies focus on driving laws and ensure all motorists are safe while on the roads of Mercer County.
The Sheriff’s Office would also like to take this opportunity to remind motorist to always wear your seat belt, have a designated driver if you are drinking, and do not text and drive.
