The following was submitted by Celina Mayor Jeff Hazel from an email from Amy Carles, a Senior Outreach & Education Specialist with the Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel in Columbus:
As you likely know, Enbridge (FKA Dominion Energy) is asking the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) for a 30% hike in what it charges consumers for natural gas distribution service, as well as other additional fixed charges.
OCC is arguing that the increase is unjustified and should instead be a 32% decrease. The PUCO Staff has also recommended a decrease. Learn more: https://www.occ.ohio.gov/dominion-rate-increase-2024.
The PUCO is holding a public hearing to hear from those affected by the request would be impacted.
Make Your Voice Heard!
IN-PERSON PUBLIC HEARING
6 p.m. Mon., Sept. 23
Lima Senior High School Auditorium
1 Spartan Way, Lima
Public hearings are a crucial part of the utility rate case process and allow consumers to express their opinions and concerns directly to the PUCO Commissioners, which helps ensure that the final PUCO decision considers the impact on consumers.
Please consider attending the hearing and to tell the PUCO how this rate increase would impact you or the individuals and families you serve. Tips on speaking at a public hearing can be found in OCC’s Make Your Voice Heard at the PUCO fact sheet.
