One person dead in road rage related crash Tuesday


Three-vehicle fatal crash on interstate 75 in Auglaize County
Duchouquet Township - The Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on October 8,2024, at approximately 5:08 p.m. in Auglaize County, Ohio. The crash occurred on Interstate 75 northbound near Milepost 114.
Ms. Bailey M. Luckett, age 24, of Lima, Ohio was operating a2019 Kia Soul. Mr. Jesus M. Perez, age 50, of Hazleton, Pennsylvania was operating a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia. Mr. David V. Shutt, age 44, of Lima, Ohio was operating a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. All three vehicles were traveling northbound on Interstate 7 5
The preliminary investigation indicates Ms. Luckett stopped on the roadway in front of the Freightliner, forcing it to stop. Ms. Luckett then exited her vehicle and confronted Mr. Perez. The Chrysler then struck the Freightliner. After the Chrysler struck the Freightliner, the Kia fled the scene. The Kia was later located and stopped by a Trooper from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lima Post.
Ms. Luckett and Mr. Perez were not injured. Mr. Shutt sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Perez was wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash. Mr. Shutt was not wearing a safety belt.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit, Wapakoneta Fire Department, Auglaize County Sheriff's Office, Auglaize County Prosecutor's Office, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Auglaize County Coroner also responded to
the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
