Nancy J. Hildbold


Nancy J. Hildbold, age 98, of Celina, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Divine Nursing and Rehab at Shane Hill in Rockford. Born on May 7, 1926, in Wilshire, she was the daughter of the late Paul M. and Eva (Marbaugh) Schaffner.

Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Jill Tice and Jane Bishop, both of Columbus, Ohio and daughter-in-law Linda Tice of Convoy. She also leaves behind three brothers, Paul (Sharon) Schaffner of Galion, Ohio; William "Robin" (Laure) Schaffner of Cookeville, Tennessee; and Francis (Sandy) Schaffner of Rockford. Additionally, she is survived by one sister Eleanor Blubaugh of Willshire, Ohio, along with a sister-in-law, Marlene Schaffner of Willshire, and grandchildren Troy Tice (Laurie) of Decatur, Indiana, Michael Bigelow of Reno, Nevada, Kyle Tice of Wren Tonya Stone of Van Wert, Peter Tice (Joanna) of Bethesda, Md and Tina Tice of Decatur, 9 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her first husband, Gail Tice, whom she married in 1944 and who passed away in 1951. She later married Gerald Hildbold in 1956, who also preceded her in death in 1983, and she is preceded in death by beloved son Jack Tice in 2018. She is also preceded in death  by four brothers—Roland Marbaugh (Carm) , Jim (Ann) Schaffner, George Schaffner, and John (Ann) Schaffner—and five sisters—Phyliss (Roy) Roose, Ruth (Lee) Smalley, Monica Schaffner, and Martha Jarrett (Bill), and Rachael Smalley (Clay) . In addition, she was preceded by many nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of Willshire High School, Nancy retired from Mersman Furniture Factory in Celina after 25 years of dedicated service. She was a devoted member of the United Brethren in Christ in Celina.

Nancy was proud of her Schaffner hertiage and family was at the center of her life. She enjoyed fishing at Grand Lake, was an avid reader especially Billy Graham books, she was a Cincinnati reds fan. She live a full and good life.

The Schaffner/ Tice family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Divine Nursing and Rehab at Shane Hill and EverHeart Hospice for the exceptional care and companionship they provided to Nancy.

Services will be held at Cisco Funeral Home, with burial at Willshire Cemetery in Willshire.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina. The family will welcome friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at Willshire Cemetery at a later date.
