ST. MARYS – Brian Christopher has been named the new police chief for the City of St. Marys. Christopher served as interim chief following the retirement of Jake Sutton.
“I am honored and humbled to serve as the city’s next chief of police,” Christopher said. “I look forwarded to leading the department and continuing to serve the city.”
Christopher, a Memorial High School graduate, earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Ohio Northern University. He was hired as a patrolman on Dec. 1, 2003, and completed his Ohio Peace Office Basic Training in March 2004. Christopher was promoted to sergeant in November 2015.
“We are excited to welcome Chief Christopher as our new police chief,” Mayor Joe Hurlburt said. “With 21 years of experience in law enforcement, Chief Christopher brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and leadership that will serve our department and our city well. We are confident that under Chief Christopher’s leadership, our police department will continue to grow stronger and be more responsive to the needs of our community.”
