Craig McEldowney


Craig Allen  “Sparky” McEldowney of 332 S. Pine St., St. Marys, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on  July 13, 2025 at St. Rita’s Hospital Lima, Ohio, surrounded by his family and listening to his favorite Elvis Presley songs.

He was born on Feb. 23, 1962, in Saint Marys, to Jerome  and Barbara (Cotterman) McEldowney, Sr.

 He is survived by his siblings: Jerry (Peggy) McEldowney of Botkins, Ohio, Beverly (Michael) Whitaker of St. Marys, Teena Ward of St. Marys, Dale (Donna) McEldowney of Saint Marys; Teresa (Donald) Henning of St. Marys. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. And his caregiver Jacob McEldowney of St. Marys, 3 Aunts – Barbara Cotterman of Wapak, OH; Patricia McEldowney of Greenville, OH and Jeanette Monnin of Russia, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jerome and Barbara, (2) sisters Tamara and Kimberly and brother Scott and brother-in-law Billy Ward, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Craig enjoyed swimming, camping, and  fishing with family, riding his bike around town, and as he got older, going to C&C to have a few beers and dancing with the women. He also enjoyed going camping at the Nazarene Church Camp.  He loved the music of Elvis Presley and was a big fan of Saint Marys Roughrider football and soft ball.

He was employed at  Auglaize Industries and later worked at the rest area on 33 in St. Marys as a custodian for many years, before going back to the Auglaize Industries.

Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Pastor Andrew Atkins and Deacon Martin Brown, officiants. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery, Saint Marys.

Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. on Friday and also one hour prior to the funeral rites on Saturday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the Auglaize County MRDD Board.
