Mercer, Van Wert County Jails Awarded $128K Each in State Opioid Treatment Grants
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced $2 million in new state grants to expand addiction treatment programs in local jails — with the Mercer County Jail and Van Wert County Jail each receiving $128,000.
The funding is part of Yost’s Opioid Remediation Grant Program, which helps county jails hire addiction-services coordinators or partner with treatment providers to support inmates through detox and recovery.
This latest round brings the program’s total statewide awards to $5.6 million, now reaching 37 counties across Ohio. Applications for next year’s funding will be accepted through December 1st.
