Minster Board of Education Overview – October 2025

The Minster Board of Education met for their regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening.

Donations

The Board voted to approve accepting the following donations:

  • $11,047 from the Fred and Sherry Sommer Family Foundation, through the Shelby County Community Foundation, for adjustable backboards.

  • $250 from Farm Credit Mid America to cover partial admission for students to attend the Farm Science Review.

  • $2,500 from Minster Civic Association for free student admission to sporting events.

  • $2,500 from Minster Journeyman's Club for free student admission to sporting events.

  • $3,690 from Dollar General Literacy Foundation for decodables for the Title I Program.

Board Recognition of Students / Superintendent’s Report

Superintendent Josh Meyer provided the Board with an update on the State Report Card released in September. He also recognized Principals Mandy Albers and Austin Kaylor for their efforts in promoting the success of students and staff.

K–6 Principal’s Report

Elementary Principal Mandy Albers shared the elementary report and provided the Board with student achievement data.

7–12 Principal’s Report

Junior/Senior High Principal Austin Kaylor updated the Board on recent FFA events, the CATS Pride winners for September, and the boys’ and girls’ golf seasons.
Mr. Kaylor also discussed recent career events for high school students, the professional development day held in conjunction with the Mercer County ESC, and an update on parent-teacher conferences.

Curriculum and Instruction

During this portion of the meeting, the Board heard from third-grade teacher Cami Garman about her students’ recent experiences at the ribbon cutting for the new Lake Loramie State Park Welcome Center.

Treasurer’s Report

Treasurer Gina Selby presented her monthly report, including updates on the upcoming minimum wage increase, recommendations from Governor DeWine’s Property Tax Workgroup, House Bill 96, and current school funding discussions in the Ohio House and Senate.
She also provided fund summaries and a budget performance update.

Superintendent’s Consent Agenda

During this portion of the meeting, the Board approved the following:

  • Early graduation for senior David Rowell, who plans to early enlist in the U.S. Army.

  • Snow removal contract with Ruhenkamp Boring and Trenching.

  • Facility use request from Harmony for Ohio Foundation to use the high school for their annual Turkey Trot on November 27.

New Business

In new business, the Board approved the following items:

  • First reading of numerous updates to policies and administrative guidelines.

  • Four additional vacation days for classified employees Gary Lange, Liz Mangen, Annette Moran, and Alexandria Stief.

The Board set November 17 at 7 p.m. in the Large Group Room as the date and time for their next monthly meeting.

Personnel Recommendations

The Board approved the following personnel recommendations:

  • Accepted the retirement resignation of Leanne Keller, Data and Literacy Coach/Library Aide, effective at the conclusion of the school year.

  • Approved Angie Niemeyer as a tutor on an as-needed basis for the 2025–2026 school year.

  • Offered Marianne Bruns, Christy Homan, and Carrie Rhoades contracts as substitute van drivers.

  • Approved a number of supplemental contracts and athletic volunteers.

Executive Session

The Board entered into Executive Session to discuss the employment and compensation of a public employee and the purchase or sale of property.
No action was taken after the session.
