Mercer County Woman Indicted for Identity Fraud


MERCER COUNTY WOMAN INDICTED FOR IDENTITY FRAUD

CELINA, OH — Carmen Marchal, 40 of Fort Recovery, Ohio, has been indicted in Mercer County for allegedly committing identity fraud, according to court records filed Thursday.

The indictment, filed in the Court of Common Pleas, Mercer County, alleges that on or about October 18, 2023, Marchal unlawfully used, obtained, or possessed the personal identifying information of a victim without consent, with the intent to hold herself out as that individual. The victim of the alleged crime was identified as a disabled adult, an active-duty service member, or a spouse of an active-duty service member.

Marchal faces one count of identity fraud, a fourth-degree felony under Ohio Revised Code §2913.49(B)(1) and §2913.49(I)(3).

The indictment was returned by a grand jury in Mercer County during the second term of court on August 21, 2025, and was filed by the Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. A date for Marchal's initial court appearance has not been set. Marchal is being held without bond at this time.
