No Injuries Reported After Small Fire at Celina High School

CELINA — A small fire broke out Wednesday morning in a Celina High School classroom after an old device caught fire, according to Superintendent Brooke Gessler.

Safety procedures were immediately followed, and the building was evacuated. A teacher used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames before the Celina Fire Department arrived on scene.

Gessler said the fire was quickly contained and everyone is safe. A few students were evaluated by the school nurse for minor irritation caused by the fire extinguisher.

The district’s technology team is now locating and removing similar devices to prevent future issues.

“We appreciate the quick response of our staff and the Celina Fire Department in keeping everyone safe,” Gessler said.
