Midnight Gladness to Bring Holiday Festivities to Downtown Celina on December 5
Listen to Stacy Beougher on Spectrum:
CELINA — The Mercer County Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for one of downtown Celina’s most popular holiday traditions as Midnight Gladness returns Friday, December 5.
Chamber Executive Director Stacey Beougher said the annual event brings extended shopping hours, family activities, and a festive atmosphere to downtown and the nearby business district. Many stores and restaurants will be open late, offering sales, specialties, and holiday treats.
This year’s lineup includes horse-drawn carriage rides on Main Street, the return of the Grinch from 6 to 8 p.m., and a new addition — pony rides for kids on Fayette Street, sponsored by the Celina Eagles and the downtown merchants. Santa will also be available for photos at Wabash Telephone, and the Celina High School Choir will stroll downtown singing Christmas music.
The Celina Fire Department will again open its doors with chili, hot dogs, and a chance for families to stop in and say hello. Several local businesses are planning activities, giveaways, and special holiday promotions.
Beougher encouraged visitors to review the full list of participating businesses and activities on the Downtown Celina Ohio Facebook page, noting that many shops will stay open later than usual based on crowd traffic.
Chamber gift certificates can also be redeemed during the event at more than 150 local businesses. Beougher said the program helps keep holiday spending local while giving shoppers flexible gift options.
Midnight Gladness falls between Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, and Beougher noted that many chamber-member retailers offer both in-store and online options for those who prefer to shop from home.
She said the one-night event brings a special energy to Celina each year, adding that there’s nothing better than a downtown filled with lights, music, and families celebrating the season.
