Mercer County grand jury indicts Celina man on strangulation and assault charges

A Mercer County grand jury has indicted a Celina man in connection with an alleged domestic incident earlier this fall.

According to court records, Donald R. Cordray III, 41, was indicted in Mercer County Common Pleas Court on September 18, 2025. The case is filed under Case No. 25-CRM-135.

Cordray faces one count of strangulation, a fourth-degree felony. The indictment alleges that on or about September 15, 2025, Cordray knowingly caused or created a substantial risk of physical harm to the victim by means of strangulation or suffocation. Prosecutors state the victim is a family or household member, or someone with whom Cordray is or was in a dating relationship.

He is also charged with one count of assault, a first-degree misdemeanor, for allegedly knowingly causing or attempting to cause physical harm to the same victim on the same date.

The indictment was filed by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office. Further court proceedings are expected in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
