CELINA, Ohio — A Celina man is facing felony charges after being arrested by the Celina Police Department earlier this week.

According to police, Brandl Duenas, 24, of Celina, was booked on Dec. 22, 2025, on 2 counts of extortion, both 3rd-degree felonies. One charge alleges extortion, while the second involves extortion by threatening to expose information that could subject a person to contempt, ridicule, or harm their reputation.

Duenas is currently being held at the Mercer County Adult Detention Center without bond and is awaiting an initial appearance in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

Under Ohio Revised Code 2905.11, extortion includes threatening to expose information that could bring hatred, contempt, or ridicule upon another person in order to obtain something of value or force an unlawful act. A conviction on a 3rd-degree felony extortion charge can carry a potential prison sentence of 9 to 36 months and fines of up to $10,000.

Court records indicate the case remains pending. As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
