Mercer County EMA urges residents to prepare for weekend cold and possible snow

Mercer County Emergency Management Director Chad Wilrath says residents should keep a close eye on the forecast heading into the weekend, as weather conditions are still evolving.

Wilrath said forecasts have ranged from heavier snow to more ice, and while amounts are still uncertain, the county should plan for winter impacts and dangerous cold.

The latest forecast for the Celina area shows frigid temperatures through the weekend, with the chance for accumulating snow Saturday and a steadier snow potential Sunday.

Wilrath encouraged people to prepare now by staying weather aware and getting ready for whatever develops, especially with the cold expected to be a major factor.
