Former state Rep. Craig Riedel files petitions for Ohio Senate District 1 run
Former state Rep. Craig Riedel has filed petitions to run for the Ohio Senate District 1 seat, succeeding Sen. Rob McColley, R Napoleon, who is term limited and is currently the running mate of Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
The 1st Senate District includes Putnam, Van Wert, Hardin, Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Paulding and Williams counties and a portion of Logan County.
Riedel will be running in the May Republican primary against current Ohio Rep. Jim Hoops, R Napoleon, who filed to run for the seat earlier this month.
Riedel previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2017 to 2022, representing the 82nd District, consisting of Defiance, Paulding, Van Wert and a portion of Auglaize counties. Prior to his time in politics, he worked for 27 years as a civil engineer for Nucor Vulcraft Group.
