Governor DeWine Announces 8 Projects Set to Create 1,320 Jobs, More Than $853 Million in Investments
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik today announced the approval of eight projects that will create 1,320 new jobs and retain 1,195 jobs statewide.
During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. The projects are expected to result in more than $80.6 million in new payroll and generate over $853 million in investments across Ohio.
CENTRAL/NORTHEAST/NORTHWEST
AAA Cooper Transportation expects to create 210 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $14.7 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the city of Columbus (Franklin County), city of Richfield (Summit County), and city of Toledo (Lucas County). AAA provides comprehensive logistics, transportation, and distribution solutions. The proposed project will result in a new location to expand the company’s transportation and logistics operations as part of a strategic initiative to grow its national network of service centers/fleet maintenance shops. TCA approved a 1.668 percent, nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
CENTRAL
PPG Industries Ohio, Inc., city of Delaware (Delaware County), expects to create 100 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $7.99 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in Delaware. PPG produces paints, coatings, specialty materials, and fiberglass. The proposed project involves a large investment to expand its operations in a state-of-the-art paint manufacturing facility. TCA approved a 1.483 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
NORTH-CENTRAL
Newman Technology, Inc., city of Mansfield (Richland County), expects to create 70 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $3.55 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the city of Mansfield. Newman Tech manufactures exhaust components, window trims, and other components and accessories for OEM automakers. The proposed project includes significant investment in machinery and equipment required to produce new parts for the company’s automotive customers. TCA approved a 1.225 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
NORTHEAST
ark data centers, LLC, city of Akron (Summit County) and city of Independence (Cuyahoga County), expects to create 10 full-time equivalent employees, generating $1.1 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the city of Akron and the city of Independence. ark is an IT service provider and consulting firm helping organizations plan, manage, and execute IT strategies using a broad range of services. The proposed project by ark involves expanding its operations within Ohio to expand its data center capabilities. TCA approved a 50 percent, 10-year data center sales tax exemption for the project.
NORTHWEST
First Quality Home Care Products LLC, village of Archbold (Fulton County), expects to create 400 full-time-equivalent employees, generating $20 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in the village of Archbold. First Quality manufactures adult incontinence products, feminine hygiene products, baby wipes, adult washcloths, and consumer paper products for institutional and retail markets worldwide. The proposed project by First Quality involves a recently purchased Utah-based detergent and cleaner line, looking for a new location to expand operations. TCA approved a 1.601 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
V-Rod USA, Inc., Florence Township (Williams County), expects to create 60 full-time-equivalent employees, generating $4.03 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in Florence Township. The proposed project involves siting their first U.S. location to manufacture composite rebars for the U.S. market. TCA approved a 1.393 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
SOUTHWEST
Dainty USA LLC, Batavia Township (Clermont County), expects to create 240 full-time-equivalent employees, generating $15.8 in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in Batavia Township. Dainty USA LLC sources and prepares private label microwave rice packets for clients, such as grocery and convenience retailers. The proposed project involves the company acquiring and renovating an existing building where they would product, package, and distribute food products to better serve the U.S. market. TCA approved a 1.671 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
Steel & O’Brien Manufacturing Inc., West Chester Township (Butler County), expects to create 230 new full-time-equivalent employees, generating $13.3 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s project in West Chester Township. Steel & O’Brien is an American manufacturer of sanitary stainless-steel fitting used in a variety of industries like data center, food processing, and pharmaceuticals. The proposed project involves significant investment in machinery and equipment at a new location to meet growing demand for its precision stainless steel components. TCA approved a 1.636 percent, nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
