VERHEART HOSPICE HIGHLIGHTS JOB OPENINGS, VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES, AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES

CELINA, Ohio — EverHeart Hospice is looking to fill several positions across the region while also inviting more community members to get involved through volunteer work and support programs.

Speaking on Spectrum, Ava Knouff, HR Generalist with EverHeart Hospice, said the nonprofit serves 10 counties in west central Ohio and operates a local office in Coldwater in addition to its Greenfield location.

Knouff said EverHeart is currently hiring for a number of clinically based roles, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and state tested nursing assistants. She said the organization is also seeking applicants for a music therapist position and a clinical leadership role based out of the Coldwater office.

She said many of EverHeart’s clinical jobs appeal to people looking for a slower paced, more one on one setting where they can build stronger relationships with patients and families.

Knouff also highlighted the role music therapy plays in hospice care. She said music therapists often provide bedside support in facilities or wherever a patient calls home, using music to bring comfort and connection in ways that can be especially meaningful for patients who may struggle to hear normal conversation.

Beyond paid positions, Knouff said EverHeart is also looking for volunteers. She said volunteer opportunities range from patient and family visits to respite support, veteran pinning ceremonies, office work, sewing, and deliveries. She noted that volunteering can be a good fit for younger people looking for experience, as well as retirees who want to stay active and connected.

To help people learn more, EverHeart Hospice will hold a Volunteer Open House on May 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. Knouff said those attending can meet with Volunteer Coordinator Tasha and learn more about the many ways to get involved.

Knouff also said EverHeart continues to provide bereavement services not only for hospice patients and families, but for anyone in the community dealing with loss. She said those services can include resources, coping tools, and short term support through the organization’s bereavement coordinator, chaplains, and social services team.

She also pointed to Camp Courage, set for June 11 and 12, as another important outreach program. The camp is designed to help children in the community who are grieving the loss of a loved one by giving them coping tools and a chance to connect with peers who have had similar experiences.

As part of its fundraising efforts, EverHeart Hospice will also host a Dine to Donate event at Buffalo Wild Wings locations in Greenville and St. Marys on April 20. Knouff said a portion of the proceeds will go to the organization’s patient care fund, which helps cover special touches for patients and families, including veteran recognition events and personalized gifts.

Knouff said EverHeart looks for caring, compassionate people who are willing to learn and want to be part of meaningful work. She said hospice can be emotionally challenging, but also deeply rewarding for those who want to help create a peaceful and memorable end of life experience for patients and their families.

She added that the hiring process includes an application review, interview, and pre employment steps before a start date is finalized. Knouff said EverHeart also places a strong emphasis on training, onboarding, and mentorship so new hires feel supported as they begin.
