Fort Recovery Board Approves Stadium Light Upgrade, Reviews Enrollment and Staffing Updates

The Fort Recovery Local Schools Board of Education approved several items during its regular March meeting, including a summer project to replace the football stadium track lights with new LED fixtures.

Superintendent Tony Stahl said the board heard reports from building principals on several topics, including ongoing preschool registration, recent changes to parent teacher conferences aimed at helping with the transition for fifth and sixth grade students, and a mock interview event led by high school English teacher Nicole Fennig in partnership with local businesses.

Stahl said the district is appreciative of both Fennig’s efforts and the support of local business members who helped with that student activity.

Treasurer Deanna Knapke also updated the board on capital transfers tied to upcoming summer projects. Stahl said the LED stadium light replacement was approved during the meeting and is expected to be completed in time for the fall season.

In other action, the board approved keeping the district’s open enrollment policy the same for the next school year, approved participation in the Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing Group, and approved Tri Star referral number 140 related to an increase in capital reserve funds.

The board also approved the district’s staffing plan for the 2026 to 2027 school year. Stahl said highlights of that plan include modest projected enrollment growth, high staff retention rates, and minor hiring updates heading into next school year.

Stahl also reminded residents that board meeting minutes, agendas and financial information are available on the district website.

The next regular Fort Recovery Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school community room.
