Coldwater Council Advances Development Plat, Begins Review of Utility Rate Increase and Discusses Storm Damage
Coldwater Village Council moved forward on several items during its latest meeting, including a new development plat, a proposed utility rate increase and cleanup from recent storm damage.
Village Manager Jason Eyink said council held the second reading of Ordinance 1774, which would accept the plat for RK Development Phase Two.
Eyink also said council held the first reading of Ordinance 1775, which would increase water, sewer and storm rates.
He said the village last raised those rates in 2023, but operating costs have continued to rise. He also said the village has major water line projects coming up in the near future, which factored into the proposed increase.
In addition to legislation, Eyink updated council on storm damage from about two weeks ago.
He said the village dealt with downed utility lines and also lost two trees and a light pole in the park. Eyink said the damage also impacted fencing, with five sections needing repair.
