Ohio House Democrats unveil affordability package aimed at lowering costs

Ohio House Democrats have announced a package of bills they say is designed to ease the financial strain facing families across the state. The proposal, described as “An Ohio You Can Afford,” targets major household expenses including health care, child care, energy, housing, and consumer protection.

Democratic lawmakers outlined the plan during a Monday news conference at the Ohio Statehouse. Among the ideas included is a proposal that would provide working families a $2,000 tax credit for each child under age 5, with a maximum benefit of $4,000 for families with two or more young children.

House Minority Leader Dani Isaacsohn said some of the bills in the package have already been introduced, while others are expected to be rolled out in the coming weeks. Democrats say the effort is meant to help Ohioans who are working hard but still struggling to keep up with rising costs.
