Parkway board to consider contracts, handbook updates and administrative approvals

The Parkway Local Board of Education is set to review a lengthy agenda that includes handbook updates, contracts for the 2026-27 school year, donations, administrative approvals and policy changes at its upcoming meeting.

Among the items listed under the treasurer’s report are amended appropriations, payment of bills and several “then and now” purchases, including $4,000 for Plaza Lanes, $3,500 for Raptor Technologies and $9,675.75 for Florida Farm Bureau. Board members will also consider accepting a $1,200 donation from the Parkway Booster Club to the softball program, a $150 donation from Wright State University for classroom supplies, and an athletic booster donation to cover admission costs for home fall and winter sporting events for high school students not currently participating in a sport.

On the superintendent’s side, the board is being asked to approve updates to the coaches handbook, athletic handbook, and student handbooks for the high school, middle school and elementary school. The agenda also includes approval of the graduation list pending completion of all requirements, substitute teacher lists, and a service agreement with the Mercer County Educational Service Center for the 2026-27 school year.

The board is also set to consider the resignation of technology staff member Casey Nuttle effective April 30, a three-year bus maintenance agreement with Rodoc Leasing Sales and Service not to exceed $138,000 in labor costs, and a medical leave request for Elementary Principal Tracy Trogdlon beginning April 15.

A large portion of the agenda focuses on staffing. Parkway board members are being asked to approve multiple one-year, two-year and three-year teaching contracts, a long list of classified staff contracts, and supplemental contracts for the 2026-27 school year. Those supplementals include Amy Drake as band director, Leslie Baltzell in multiple music roles, several class and club advisors, and fall sports coaching assignments.

The agenda also includes proposed NEOLA policy changes involving procurement cards and food service, implementation of a procurement card system, a salary settlement item involving Administrator Teri Samples, and new three-year administrative contracts for Zachary Bates as PreK-12 assistant principal, Sam Gudorf as technology director, Matthew Triplett as middle school principal and Tracy Trogdlon as elementary school principal. The board could also move into executive session for personnel, negotiations, legal matters and other confidential topics permitted under Ohio law.
