Settlement reached in fatal St. Marys building collapse

Settlement reached in fatal St. Marys building collapse

The family of a St. Marys man killed in a building collapse last year has reached a wrongful death settlement in Auglaize County Probate Court.

According to court documents, Judge Mark Spees approved a settlement totaling more than $682,000 for the estate of Christopher Brown.

The claim was filed against Todd Klosterman, owner of Klosterman Vested Interests LLC, which owned the property at 305 East Spring Street where the collapse occurred on July 31, 2025.

Brown and Kevin Sharp were surveying the building at the time of the collapse. Brown died as a result of the incident, while Sharp suffered serious injuries.

Both men were employees of Pro Fit HVAC LLC, also owned by Klosterman.

Following an investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the company was fined $41,000 in December. Klosterman has contested those citations, and the case remains ongoing.
