St. Marys Council Advances DORA Review, Approves Refuse Rate Change
ST. MARYS — St. Marys City Council approved updated refuse rates and continued discussion on the city’s designated outdoor refreshment area during its latest meeting, according to Mayor Joe Hurlburt.
Hurlburt said council opened the meeting by considering a liquor permit request tied to the new Duchess gas station and convenience store being developed on Indiana Avenue. He said there were no issues with the request, allowing the business to move forward with its permit application.
Council also handled two ordinances during the meeting.
Hurlburt said an amended ordinance approving revised refuse rates for the City of St. Marys was read for a third time and included emergency language. He said that means the new rates will now take effect May 1st instead of June 1st.
Council also gave a second reading to an ordinance conducting the required five year review of the city’s designated outdoor refreshment area, or DORA, and approving its continued operation in specified public areas of downtown.
That ordinance will move on to a third reading.
Hurlburt also reminded residents that a public hearing on the DORA renewal is scheduled for April 27th at 6:15 p.m. in council chambers. He said there have been some proposed changes to the mapping of the refreshment area, and those will be addressed during the hearing.
Hurlburt said no new legislation was introduced during the meeting.
