Celina Sees Brief Flash Flooding, Minor Storm Damage After Heavy Rain

CELINA — Celina Mayor Jeff Hazel says the city saw brief flash flooding and some minor damage after a heavy burst of rain moved through the area.

Hazel said Celina received a little more than an inch and a half of rain in about 30 minutes. He said that led to what many people would describe as flash flooding, but the water drained away once storm drains were able to handle the runoff.

Hazel said one tree came down just west of downtown and affected power service lines to a few residents. He said despite that, the city did not experience any broader power outages.

He also said there were reports of a few additional downed trees around the community.

Hazel said one garage door was also damaged badly enough to be knocked off its track.

Overall, Hazel said Celina came through the storm in good shape, with the city’s electric service remaining on.
