Storm Damage Reported in St. Marys Township Area After Strong Winds

AUGLAIZE COUNTY — Auglaize County EMA Director Troy Anderson says strong storms caused damage in the southern portion of Grand Lake St. Marys, particularly in St. Marys Township.

Anderson said multiple telephone poles owned by Midwest Electric, AEP, and AES were brought down during the storms, blocking and obstructing roadways in the area. He said most of that debris has now been cleared, but some low hanging wires remain and continue to be a concern for anyone traveling through affected areas.

He also said a couple of trees fell onto homes, with crews working to remove them.

Anderson said there was also widespread roof related damage, including shingles blown off roofs and siding torn from homes.

Despite the damage, Anderson said the county came through the storms relatively well considering the strength of the winds.
