CELINA — A Celina woman was sentenced Friday to 180 days in the Mercer County Jail following a July 5 incident involving a Celina police officer.
Lori M. LeCompte had been charged in Mercer County Common Pleas Court with fourth-degree felony assault. The complaint alleged that LeCompte knowingly caused or attempted to cause physical harm to a peace officer while the officer was performing his official duties.
According to a police affidavit, an officer was initially dispatched to a property-damage accident at a home on South Mill Street. A witness reported that LeCompte had backed a vehicle into a neighbor’s truck before leaving the scene.
The officer later located LeCompte driving southbound on South Mill Street and initiated a traffic stop. The affidavit states that LeCompte appeared highly intoxicated, had slurred speech and was combative and argumentative.
After she was taken to the Mercer County Detention Facility, the officer reported that LeCompte attempted to kick him while he was reading and attempting to show her a form. The officer said she missed the kick but then struck his hand and crumpled paperwork he was holding. LeCompte also allegedly refused a breath test and had to be restrained by jail employees.
Her bond had previously been set at $50,000. Conditions included no alcohol or drugs, random testing, no entry into establishments serving alcohol by the drink and no contact with the alleged victim.
The case was assigned to Mercer County Common Pleas Court Judge Matthew K. Fox. A pretrial and change-of-plea hearing had been scheduled for Friday afternoon.
LeCompte was sentenced to 180 days in the Mercer County Jail. Additional details regarding the plea and any credit for time already served were not immediately available.
