Four-Way Stop Planned at State Routes 118 and 707 in Rockford
ROCKFORD — The intersection of State Route 118 and State Route 707 will soon become a four-way stop, according to information shared during the latest Rockford Village Council report.
Lisa Kuhn said Mayor Seawright was notified by the Ohio Department of Transportation that stop signs will be installed for traffic approaching from each direction. The new signs will feature flashing lights around their perimeter.
ODOT will place advance warning signs near the intersection explaining when the change will take effect. Drivers are encouraged to use caution because of the number of crashes reported in the area.
The Rockford Police Department will also begin offering voluntary golf cart inspections at the request of council. The inspections are not mandatory and will be available for a $50 fee.
Several community events are also approaching. Parkway High School will host its Spiffy for School event Monday, August 10.
Gould House Farms will hold its Sunflowers in Bloom Festival August 6 through August 9.
Parkway’s Back-to-School Night is scheduled for Thursday, August 13, while the district’s first day of school will be Wednesday, August 19.
A Makers Market will be held Sunday, August 30, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Shane’s Park. The family event will include local vendors, food trucks and music.
The Rockford Chamber of Commerce is also planning Rocktoberfest for October 31, with additional information expected to be announced later.
The Shanes Crossing Historical Society is holding a fry pie fundraiser. Ordering information is available through the organization’s Facebook page and at the village office. Orders will be available for pickup October 31 during Rocktoberfest.
The Finance Committee reported bills totaling $26,173.82 and approved the village’s monthly financial reports.
