Wapakoneta Man Charged with Second-Degree Felony Burglary Bound Over to Common Pleas Court

A Wapakoneta man charged with second-degree felony burglary will have his case heard in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court after waiving his preliminary hearing.

Matthew Ryan Taylor appeared Monday in Auglaize County Municipal Court, where Judge R. Andrew Augsburger accepted Taylor’s waiver and ordered the case bound over to Common Pleas Court.

Taylor is charged with burglary under Ohio Revised Code 2911.12(A)(2), a second-degree felony. According to the criminal complaint, the alleged offense occurred July 30 in Auglaize County. Authorities allege Taylor trespassed in an occupied structure or habitation by force, stealth or deception with the purpose of committing a criminal offense while another person was present or likely to be present.

The case originated in Auglaize County Municipal Court on July 31. Court records show Taylor was arrested on a warrant and initially appeared before the court that day.

Taylor’s bond was set at $50,000 with a 10-percent cash provision and an own-recognizance component. The court ordered the existing bond continued and transferred with the case to Common Pleas Court.

The municipal court case is now listed as closed following the bindover.

The charge is an allegation, and Taylor is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
