Coldwater School Board Reviews Financial Outlook, Keeps Lunch Prices Unchanged

he Coldwater Exempted Village Schools Board of Education recognized a longtime board member, reviewed the district’s updated financial forecast and approved lunch prices for the upcoming school year during its August meeting Tuesday evening.

Superintendent Doug Mader said Ohio School Boards Association CEO Thomas Hosler attended the meeting to recognize board member Terry Schroer for more than 15 years of service.

Hosler presented Schroer with a certificate and praised his tenure and commitment to serving the Coldwater community.

Treasurer Jen McCoy also presented the district’s new five-year financial forecast. Mader said the district continues working through changes at the state level involving public school funding and property tax reform while maintaining a long-term plan for financial sustainability.

According to Mader, the district has developed a 10-year infrastructure plan, a revolving five-year technology plan that is updated annually and a curriculum adoption cycle covering the next 15 years.

Mader said Coldwater Schools is not currently operating in deficit spending and projects a sustainable cash balance through at least 2031.

He credited the district’s leadership team, staff and teachers organization for working together on long-range planning and financial stability.

The board also approved lunch prices for the 2026-27 school year. Prices will remain unchanged from levels established in 2020.

Lunch will continue to cost $2.15 for students in kindergarten through eighth grade, $2.25 for high school students and $3 for adults.

The Coldwater Board of Education’s next meeting is scheduled for the second Tuesday in September.
