COLDWATER — One of the world's top professional bowlers is back in the area this weekend for the 18th annual PBA BowlerStore.com Classic at Pla-mor Lanes in Coldwater.
EJ Tackett, who recently set a PBA record for scoring average, has bowled in the event since 2013 and has previously won the tournament.
Tackett said the event has a special feel, with bowlers traveling from around the country to compete.
“I’ve bowled in this event since 2013. It’s someplace I always enjoy coming back to,” Tackett said.
Tackett is also coming off a win at the Kremer Roofing Classic in Minster. He said this weekend's event is important in the Brunswick Cup points race, with one tournament remaining.
Tackett said he plans to bowl his best and have fun as he chases another win at Pla-mor Lanes.
He also spoke about his goal of helping grow the sport and serving as a role model for the next generation of bowlers.
“I’m going to continue to do my best on and off the lanes and try to drive the sport to new heights,” Tackett said. “That’s the ultimate goal.”
