38-Year-Old Celina Woman Indicted on Drug and Hidden Compartment Charges

A 38-year-old Celina woman has been indicted by an Auglaize County grand jury on three felony charges involving methamphetamine, heroin and an alleged hidden compartment in a vehicle.

Kalista Kalaya Powell is charged with two fifth-degree felony drug possession counts and one second-degree felony charge of operating, possessing or using a vehicle with a hidden compartment. The indictment was filed August 11 in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court.

According to the indictment, the alleged offenses occurred on or about May 20 in Auglaize County.

Count one alleges Powell knowingly obtained, possessed or used methamphetamine. Count two alleges she knowingly obtained, possessed or used heroin. Both charges are fifth-degree felonies.

The third count alleges Powell knowingly operated, possessed or used a vehicle containing a hidden compartment while knowing the compartment was being used or intended to be used to conceal or transport a controlled substance.

Prosecutors further allege the hidden compartment contained a controlled substance at the time of the offense. That charge is a second-degree felony.

The Auglaize County grand jury returned the indictment as a true bill. The indictment paperwork does not list an arraignment date or plea.

The charges are allegations, and Powell is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
