Barrel Bar Giveaway at Mercer County Fair to Benefit Walleyes for Wounded Heroes

A special giveaway at the Mercer County Fair will raise money for an organization that provides outdoor experiences and support for veterans, Gold Star families and first responders.

Unique Woodmasters LLC is holding a Barrel Bar Giveaway, with the drawing scheduled for Wednesday, August 19 at 1 p.m. at the Mercer County Fair.

Tickets are $10 each, with all proceeds benefiting Walleyes for Wounded Heroes, Inc.

Walleyes for Wounded Heroes, also known as W4WH, is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that uses the healing waters of Lake Erie to provide fishing opportunities for current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces, Gold Star families, first responders injured in the line of duty and veterans dealing with PTSD.

According to the organization, participants attend its events at no cost.

W4WH says its programs are designed to provide a healing environment while building camaraderie, friendships and a sense of community among participants. Volunteer charter captains and private boat owners take participants fishing during multiple events each year.

The organization was founded in 2012 and says its fishing events have grown from approximately 10 participants to more than 100 annually.

Walleyes for Wounded Heroes says 100 percent of donations go directly toward supporting its wounded heroes and its Lake Erie events.

The Barrel Bar Giveaway drawing will take place Wednesday at 1 p.m. during the final day of the Mercer County Fair.
