Fort Recovery School Board Reviews Financial Forecast, Facility Plans and Back-to-School Preparations

The Fort Recovery Local Schools Board of Education reviewed the district’s financial outlook, recognized student achievement and approved several items ahead of the new school year during its August meeting.

Fort Recovery School Superintendent Tony Stahl said the meeting began with a work session focused on the district’s financial forecast.

Treasurer Deanna Knapke provided board members with a detailed review of monthly financial reports, including district expenditures and revenue for the current fiscal year and beyond. Copies of the approved financial forecast and monthly reports are available on the district’s website at fortrecoveryschools.org.

Board members also learned that Fort Recovery staff member Abbey Scheidt has been selected as a Read Ohio coach for the upcoming school year. Stahl said the position will provide additional resources and training to support the district’s student literacy efforts.

The board also recognized 35 students who received perfect scores on their 2026 state tests. Additional information about those students is available through the district’s social media pages.

In other business, the board approved several spring sports coaching positions and bus routes for the upcoming school year.

The board also authorized Stahl to enter into an agreement for design services connected with potential improvements at the Athletic Park. The project being considered includes construction of a permanent ticket shed connected to the concession building and the possible addition of a standalone building for referee locker rooms and additional storage.

Fort Recovery students will return to school Wednesday, August 26.

Back-to-School Night is scheduled for Monday, August 24 from 3:30 to 7 p.m.

Stahl also reminded parents and guardians that the district is transitioning to ParentSquare as its primary communication tool. Families who have not yet activated their accounts should have received an email invitation. Assistance will also be available during Back-to-School Night at a ParentSquare help desk in the elementary-middle school building.

The Fort Recovery Board of Education will hold its next regular meeting Monday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school community room.
