St. Marys City Council to Consider Employee Pay, Tax Levies and Street Vacations Monday

ST. MARYS — St. Marys City Council will consider legislation involving employee wages and benefits, tax levies, and the vacation of portions of a street and an alley during its meeting Monday, August 24.

A public hearing regarding the proposed vacations is scheduled for 6:15 p.m., followed by the regular council meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers at the city building.

Two ordinances are scheduled for their third readings. Ordinance 2026-12 would vacate a portion of the Plum Street right-of-way in the J.H. and D.A. Barrington subdivision of Outlot 61. Ordinance 2026-13 would vacate part of an existing 12-foot-wide east-west alley bounded by Outlots 48, 49 and 50.

Council members will also consider an emergency ordinance amending existing legislation addressing wages and benefits for supervisory personnel and non-represented city employees. The agenda does not specify the proposed changes.

Another ordinance would approve the editing and inclusion of certain ordinances in the city’s codified ordinances.

An emergency resolution would accept amounts and rates established by the Auglaize County Budget Commission, authorize necessary tax levies and certify them to the county auditor.

Additional resolutions would extend sympathy to the families of Teena M. Ward and Lawrence Larkin.

Council is also scheduled to hear reports from the city auditor, treasurer, and director of public service and safety.
