A 2 year old boy has died after being struck by a vehicle in a private driveway in Darke County.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 200 block of State Route 503 at approximately 3:04 p.m. Sunday, August 23.

Arcanum Fire Department, Arcanum Rescue and CareFlight also responded.

Investigators say the child was believed to be inside the residence at the time of the incident.

The child’s mother was operating a white 2020 Chevrolet 2500 and began moving the truck. Deputies say she was unaware that the 2 year old had run outside of the residence.

The child was struck by the truck.

Deputies and emergency medical personnel provided life saving measures at the scene before the child was transported to Dayton Children’s Hospital.

The child later died from his injuries.

At the time of the Sheriff’s Office release, the incident remained under investigation.
