Mark Center Man Killed in Paulding County Shooting, Homeowner Facing Murder Charge

A 34 year old Mark Center man is dead and a 72 year old homeowner is facing a murder charge following a shooting Monday night in Paulding County.

According to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to 19915 Road 72 in Washington Township at approximately 10:30 p.m. on August 31 for a report of a man who had been shot.

Deputies arrived and found 34 year old Logan D. Moss of Mark Center suffering from a gunshot wound in the driveway.

Deputies provided aid until Grover Hill EMS arrived and took over medical care. Moss was transported to OhioHealth in Van Wert, where he was pronounced dead.

The homeowner, identified as 72 year old Alfred B. Conner, was taken into custody in connection with the shooting.

Authorities say Conner was transported to a local hospital for a medical assessment before being incarcerated. He is expected to initially be charged with one count of murder, an unclassified felony. The case will be turned over to the Paulding County Prosecuting Attorney for further review.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Grover Hill EMS, Scott EMS and Paulding County Prosecutor Matthew A. Miller assisted at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the Sheriff’s Office says no additional information is expected to be released at this time
