Eaton Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Darke County Crash
A 20 year old Eaton man was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a two vehicle crash in Darke County.
According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies along with Greenville City Fire, Greenville Township Fire, Greenville Township Rescue and CareFlight were dispatched to the intersection of State Route 121 and Bishop Road at approximately 4:19 p.m. on September 1.
A preliminary investigation found that a tan 2003 GMC 1500 driven by William M. E. Koontz, 19, of Eaton, was stopped northbound on State Route 121 in traffic while attempting to make a left turn onto Bishop Road.
Deputies say the GMC was struck from behind by a northbound 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Adam J. Miller, 20, of Eaton.
Miller was ejected from the motorcycle following the impact.
Koontz was treated and released at the scene with no injuries. Miller sustained serious injuries and was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction team was called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation.
