Celina Man Sentenced to 120 Days in Mercer County Jail for Assault

A 56-year-old Celina man has been sentenced to 120 days in the Mercer County Jail after pleading guilty to assault.

Robert L. Beer was recently sentenced in Mercer County Common Pleas Court. He received credit for 77 days already served.

The case stems from an incident reported June 27 on Myers Road in Celina. According to a court affidavit, a man told police that Beer struck him several times in the face following a confrontation outside a residence.

The affidavit states the man had blood coming from his left ear and injuries to his face and neck when officers arrived. The man told police the altercation began after he asked Beer to leave the property.

Beer pleaded guilty to one count of assault, a first-degree misdemeanor. Charges of strangulation and criminal trespass were dismissed as part of the case.

Beer was ordered to pay court costs and $250 in appointed-counsel fees. No fine or restitution was imposed.
