Mercer County EMA Expects Lighter Rainfall Following Last Week’s Flooding

Mercer County Emergency Management Agency Director Chad Wilrath says the county is not expected to receive the same amount of rainfall this week that contributed to flooding problems across the area last week.

Wilrath said scattered showers remain possible Monday afternoon, with another chance of light rain Tuesday and Tuesday night into Wednesday. Based on the current forecast, conditions could become clearer Wednesday through Friday.

The county received several inches of rain in some areas last week, saturating the ground and causing standing water, flooded roads and rising water levels around Grand Lake and nearby waterways.

Wilrath emphasized that the forecast could change, but current information indicates any rainfall this week should be lighter and more scattered.

“It looks like just a little bit of slight showers here a few days this week,” Wilrath said.

Residents should continue monitoring local forecasts and avoid driving through any roads that remain covered by water. Updated weather information and alerts are available through the National Weather Service.
