Fort Recovery Board Reviews Athletic Park Upgrades and Student Career Programs

The Fort Recovery Local Schools Board of Education received updates on a potential athletic facility project, student career programs and the district’s five-star state report card during its September meeting.

Superintendent Tony Stahl said the district is considering improvements at Barrenbrugge Athletic Park. The proposed project includes adding a permanent ticket booth to the existing concession building and constructing a separate facility for officials’ locker rooms and storage.

The project remains in the design phase and could be placed out for bids within the coming months.

High School Principal Ryan Steinbrunner also reported increased student engagement and participation in school activities. Upcoming career exploration opportunities include a field trip to Mercer Health, a job fair at Tri Star Career Compact and several lunch-and-learn sessions covering different career fields.

The board also heard updates on the district’s five-star rating on Ohio’s latest school report card, the elementary school’s universal screening and early intervention process, and a recent eighth-grade financial literacy field trip to the Mercer County Fairgrounds.

In other business, the board accepted several donations, reviewed its monthly financial reports and approved high school book fees for the current academic year.

Members approved spring softball coaches and an overnight trip for FFA members to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis during October.

The board also approved agreements with the Village of Fort Recovery to continue sidewalk improvements through the Safe Routes to School project.

Fort Recovery’s next regularly scheduled board meeting is October 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school community room.
