New Knoxville Local Schools is celebrating a five-star overall rating on its latest Ohio School Report Card.

Superintendent Mark Platfoot discussed the results during Monday night’s New Knoxville Board of Education meeting, telling board members the district’s performance index under the achievement component was its highest in the past five years.

New Knoxville improved from an overall rating of 4.5 stars last year to five stars on the 2025-26 report card.

The district recorded a performance index score of 105.0, placing New Knoxville among area school districts with test scores ranking within the top 10 percent statewide.

Platfoot credited teachers with closely examining student data and using that information to guide instruction for different groups of students.

He said the district has been intentional about identifying where students are academically and developing plans designed to help them continue growing.

The state report card evaluates districts across several areas, including achievement, progress, gap closing, early literacy, graduation and college, career, workforce and military readiness.

New Knoxville was one of several local districts receiving an overall five-star rating this year.

K-5 Principal Stacey Stetler and 6-12 Principal Renee Kramer also provided their regular building updates during Monday’s meeting, highlighting activities and student successes during the opening weeks of the school year.

Platfoot described the remainder of the meeting as relatively routine, with the board approving budget-related items and receiving its regular financial report.
