Suspect arrested following fatal shooting inside Cleveland AutoZone

A 31-year-old man is in custody after police say he shot and killed a 61-year-old man inside a Cleveland AutoZone store Sunday afternoon.

Police say the shooting occurred at the store near East 143rd Street and Puritas Avenue. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Investigators believe the victim was working at the AutoZone when the shooting occurred.

Lakewood police say the same suspect allegedly robbed a Speedway on Warren Road hours earlier and escaped with $248.

Cleveland police credited license-plate-reading cameras and assistance from the Akron Police Department with helping investigators locate the suspect.

The suspect was taken into custody within five hours of the fatal shooting. The victim’s name has not been released.
