Celina students to move into new 7-12 building in January

Celina students to move into new 7-12 building in January

Celina City Schools students and staff will officially move into the district’s new 7-12 building on January 25.

Superintendent Brooke Gessler said high school and district administrators are meeting weekly to prepare for the transition. Students and staff will have opportunities to take guided tours before the move, while families will receive additional information about student pickup and drop-off procedures.

The district’s final open house at the current Celina High School will be held Sunday, November 8, from noon to 2 p.m.

Community members will be able to receive bricks from the current high school after the building is taken down. The district expects to release distribution details closer to February.

Once students and staff are settled into the new building, Celina City Schools will hold several community open houses. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is being planned for late spring or early summer.

Gessler also outlined plans for improvements to the district’s athletic facilities.

The first phase will include upgraded administrative offices at one end of the current middle school, a new track with a football field inside and a new wrestling space in the former high school Tri Star area.

The second phase will include additional site improvements, a new soccer field and upgrades to the tennis courts.

Fundraising for the overall project is being led by the Bulldog Athletic Capital Campaign Committee, which is made up of community members.

District officials said the completed facilities will provide additional space for athletic events and other community gatherings.
