Fort Recovery Man Charged With Four Felonies After Alleged School Property Damage
A Fort Recovery man is facing four fifth-degree felony charges following two incidents involving damage to property in the Fort Recovery area.
According to a complaint filed in Mercer County Common Pleas Court, 19-year-old Issac Brinkerhoff is charged with two counts of vandalism and two counts of possessing criminal tools. He also faces two fourth-degree misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass.
The complaint alleges Brinkerhoff damaged a window on government-controlled property on Oct. 22. It identifies a rock as the criminal tool allegedly used in that incident.
Fort Recovery Police Chief Jared Laux wrote in an affidavit that surveillance footage showed a man throwing a rock at a window at a property on Sharpsburg Road. Laux said investigators also reviewed footage showing Brinkerhoff leaving and returning to his home around the time of the incident.
The second set of charges stems from alleged damage to a grassed yard on Oct. 24. Laux said he was notified that a silver truck was damaging the high school football practice field. The complaint identifies a silver Dodge truck as the alleged criminal tool.
According to the affidavit, Brinkerhoff contacted dispatch and said he wanted to turn himself in. Laux said Brinkerhoff told him he had been “drifting” in the schoolyard and admitted breaking the window a day or two earlier.
Brinkerhoff was arrested and taken to the Mercer County Detention Facility, according to the affidavit. The charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
