New Knoxville Science Teacher Secures More Than $6,000 in Grants for Classroom Projects

New Knoxville High School science teacher Natalie Stetler has secured more than $6,000 in grants this school year to support hands-on learning in her classes, Superintendent Mark Platfoot told the Board of Education Monday.

Stetler joined grades 6–12 Principal Renee Kramer at the meeting to share how the grant money is being used. Platfoot said the funds have helped purchase materials for classroom activities, including a planned bionic hand or arm project that could involve students across multiple classes.

Platfoot praised Stetler’s work to find and secure the grants, as well as her passion for providing those opportunities to students.

K–5 Principal Stacey Stetler also updated the board on activities following the end of the first quarter on Oct. 23. Platfoot said students are taking part in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports rewards this week to recognize good behavior.

The board also addressed plans for a 2028 band trip to Disney. The meeting agenda listed the proposed trip dates as Nov. 12–17, 2028.

Other items on the agenda included personnel changes, donations and student activity budgets.
