Buc-ee’s has amended its federal trademark infringement lawsuit against Beaver’s Mini Mart in Beavercreek, shifting its focus from a cartoon beaver logo to the use of the word “beaver.”
According to the Ohio News Network, the revised lawsuit cites a 2017 federal trademark as the basis for protecting the word in connection with the company’s business.
The dispute initially centered on the mini-mart’s cartoon beaver image. ONN reports the revision follows public criticism of the lawsuit.
The mini-mart’s position is that its name comes from Beavercreek and that the community’s name predates the trademark.
